What is IB? (IB)
IB ie Intelligence Bureau is the intelligence agency of India. It keeps an eye on suspicious people to deal with problems like terrorism and extremism in the country. The Intelligence Bureau was established during the British colonial rule. After the unsuccessful rebellion of 1857, the British formed an intelligence department to monitor the activities of Indian rebels and rulers in many parts of India. IB was established on December 23, 1887 as ‘Central Special Branch’. Its name was changed to Intelligence Bureau in the year 1920.
The main work of IB is the internal security of India. Mainly VIP security, counter intelligence, counter terrorism, control of anti-national activities and intelligence gathering in border areas etc. The Intelligence Bureau reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
What is RAW? (RAW)
Till the year 1968, only IB used to conduct internal and external intelligence operations of India, but after the failure of India’s intelligence agency in the war of 1962 and 1965, the government set up a separate ‘RAW’ in 1968 for external intelligence operations. created an intelligence agency named.
The work of RAW is to keep an eye on the activities of India’s neighboring countries, mainly to keep an eye on the activities of Pakistan and China. RAW also played an important role in the formation of Bangladesh.
Simply put, IB is India’s internal intelligence agency. It conducts its operations within the country, whereas RAW is the Research and Analysis Wing of India and is the external intelligence agency.
